How Often Should You Inspect Your Roof

Reno-Tahoe Weather Conditions Affect Your Roof

Residing in the high-desert of northern Nevada has so many perks, skiing and snowboarding in the winter, beautiful autumns, warm summers on the river and lakes, and windy springs. We are one of the great climates that get to see each season distinctly.

Along with each of these seasons are fluctuations in temperature, moisture, and conditions. These differing conditions will all inflict wear on your roof.

How Often Should You Inspect Your Roof?

At the very least, in an area like ours you should inspect your roof annually, but bi-annually is most recommended. Inspecting your roof on a bi-annual schedule allows for monitoring before and after the most severe weather changes.

Drastic fluctuations in temperature like we see here with summers in the 90 and 100 degree weather and winters with snow, cause the materials in your roof to expand and contract. When this happens continuously, it can cause your roof to crack or split.

Why Should You Inspect Your Roof

Having a professional inspect your roof will ensure that any potential problems are caught before they get out of hand. Visual inspections on your own are always a good idea as well, but having a professional scheduled will ensure optimal protection against damage.

A professional will not only be able to check for damage or potential problem areas, but will also be able to save you money by making sure your roof is providing proper insulation for the rest of your home.
